Pilates is an exercise regime that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. In Pilates we target deep postural muscles, building strength and mobility whilst focusing on good alignment and encouraging efficient movement patterns. Its six key principles are breathing, control, co-ordination, centering, precision and flow.

Joseph Pilates developed this method of movement originally for dancers, gymnasts and sports people but the method has evolved to allow effective, controlled, functional movement relevant to todays society.

Consistent practise will allow your body to develop and will help create a natural in-built corset which wraps around your torso.  It can help reshape your body to become more streamlined and stronger without bulk, whilst helping to alleviate back aches and pains caused by postural and muscular imbalance.  You will find yourself walking taller amd moving more easily.  It can suit almost anyone from first time exercisers, to those who want to feel more at ease in their movement. Many elite sports people use the practise to enhance their performance.
